Launch your own Project Care

At Project Care, we believe in a holistic approach to combatting prostitution and human trafficking.  Our program rests on three pillars that are inseperable and complimentary.  They are:

Raising awareness

Establish a small committee from the Task Team to focus specifically on creating awareness about the threats of human trafficking.  Materials for this initiative are available through STOP.

Ministering to women on the street

Establish ministry teams that will focus on the prostitution hotspots in your areas. The volunteers for these ministry teams can be drawn from participating Churches in the area. Ministry teams must be properly trained and organised. Oversight of these teams must be provided by Pastors in the region.

Setting up safe houses

Appoint a few members from your Task Team to focus on developing safe-houses in your region. Task Team must meet with the city and provincial officials to locate facilities that can be used as safe-houses. Safe-houses must be equipped and staffed by volunteers from participating Churches. Manuals on how to train ministry teams and run safe-houses with exit programs are available from STOP.

HOW TO LAUNCH OUR OWN PROJECT CARE?

Anyone can become involved in Project Care by following these easy steps.

  1. Start by identifying an individual in your city/town that will serve as a Project Care coordinator.
  2. Invite all the people/organisations/ministries involved in outreach to prostitutes to work together under the banner of Project Care. Also ensure you invite Church Pastors in the area.
  3. Establish a Task Team from your group that can drive the process forward by raising funds and meeting with government and police officials.
  4. Begin working on the three focus areas of Project Care by appointing a few members of your Task Team to develop the focus area.

  1. Are there any project care volunteers in Durban? Any teams that have been or are being established? Please email me at irishhome1@gmail.com. I am part of a new church here in Durban. Any information or contacts for Durban would be helpful.
    Thank you and kind regards-
    Cindy McCabe
